Site Visits & Emergency Projects

February 9th, 2023

We are receiving a number of phone calls for assistance, so we did a number of site visits and a couple of emergency projects this week. One homeowner had her ceiling fall in due to a roof leak – once she got the roof fixed, we replaced her insulation and drywall. We also fixed her deck. Another homeowner needed to have her broken locks replaced.

Thanks to the great folks at Home Depot for taking on and completing this project for us. The homeowner had some steps and hand railing that were falling apart and needed to be replaced. It turned out awesome.

Difficult Project With A Happy Ending

February 19th, 2023

BEFORE

BEFORE

We did a project this weekend where a lot of stuff went wrong. We started out with a soft spot on the kitchen floor. When we saw that it had been leaking under the sink, we knew that we had to replace the sink base cabinet as well as some of the sub-floor. When we started to get into it, we discovered that the plumbing wasn’t hooked up to anything! All of the water from the sink was going into the crawlspace. A pipe broke while we were working under the floor, so we had to shut the water off to the house and fix that also. We installed two layers of 3/4″ plywood for the sub-floor. The new cabinet was 3/4″ taller, so we had to cut it down to match the original cabinets. So, we fixed that, fixed the sub-floor, installed a new sink base cabinet (the homeowner is going to paint the others white to match) and installed new flooring. It was a mess, but it turned out great.

Bringing a Veteran’s Home Up to Code

February 21st, 2023

Today we finished up a veteran’s home that had multiple issues that we have been working on it for the last couple of months. We brought the hot water heater up to code, replaced the dining room and kitchen light, fixed the electrical issues in the living room, fixed the toilet and replaced the water damaged sub-floor in the kitchen. He’s been having medical issues and he just wants to go home. Now he’ll be a little more comfortable and safer. Many thanks to Randy and Jan.

Veteran project with the help of Scott Air Force Base, and Gateway Family Church

February 26th, 2023

BEFORE

AFTER

We had a great turnout and amazing helpers today on another veteran’s project. We removed the doors and windows that were leaking and installed new insulation, sheathing, house wrap and siding on the outside and new drywall on the inside. We also installed a fence with a gate. We have to go back and do some final taping and sanding, but it turned out great. Tremendous thanks to the folks at Scott Air Force Base and Gateway Family Church. Could not have done it without you guys.

“You guys were all so very nice! As Andy’s wife I felt your love for my veteran. What a great job and great people. Feeling very blessed!” ~Barbie Frazierwhite
