Deck & Wheelchair Ramp Build with the Help of Olin Winchester

June 8th, 2023

BEFORE

AFTER

I had the pleasure of working the past couple of days with some great folks from our newest corporate sponsor, Olin Winchester. We are building a wheelchair ramp for a disabled veteran and his wife. We got it almost completed but ran out of deck boards (delivery error). Thanks to such an amazing crew and as always, thanks to the Agency for Community Transit and to Aidan for helping out also.

Fixed From Floor to Ceiling!

June 12th, 2023

So many people to thank on this project. Randy, Anya, Isaak, Aiden, Abraham and Ryan. We fixed a local senior’s ceiling that was falling down, painted the ceiling and walls, and ripped up the old, nasty carpet. Of course, under the old nasty carpet, was an old nasty floor that needed to be fixed in a lot of places before we could install new laminate flooring. Thanks to Randy for fixing the faulty light switch in the bathroom. It is turning out great and the homeowner loves it.

June 14th, 2023

BEFORE

AFTER

We had an amazing couple of days working with the great folks at Olin Winchester. We built a wheelchair ramp for a local veteran that is having difficulty walking due to nerve damage in his feet after chemotherapy. It turned out great. Check out the pictures of the crew. Continued thanks to the Agency for Community Transit for your support.

Veteran Break-in Repair (parts 1&2)

June 17th-18th, 2023

PART ONE:

Someone had broken through the front door to a senior veteran’s home while he was at the hospital, so we installed a new front door, matching deadbolts and locks for the front and back doors. Thanks to Karen for your help today.

PART TWO:

Veteran story part 2. We received a phone call early this morning from the veteran that we just put the new door and locks in his home. He said that his (occasional) roommate had died and the police had to kick in the front door to get into the house. He didn’t hear her come in because the new door was so quiet, and she must have locked it before she passed out (OD’d). He couldn’t get to the door in time before they kicked it in. Good news is that the door and locks worked perfectly, but the bad news is that we had to rebuild the frame. #veteransdeservebetter

Olin Winchester does it again. A special thanks to the great folks at Olin for helping build this wheelchair ramp for a Veteran family. Thanks also to Aidan and, as always, Agency for Community Transit for your continued support.

“I’m so thankful for this group helping our family, I can hardly hold the tears in. It’s so beautiful ❤ and my Linda won’t have to struggle so much in getting loved ones in and out of the house ❤

Madison County Break-In Door Repair

June 27th, 2023

We had a senior homeowner in Madison call and ask us for help. Her back door had been broken into and there was glass everywhere. Thanks to Harry for your help getting this taken care of today.

“I’m so happy to see that some people care about others enough to give up their time to help someone they don’t know or do. Those who do this makes the world a better place. Thank you[.]”
