Our
Projects

November Projects of 2024

Well, the numbers are in. We had another amazing year in 2024 helping our neighbors in need with free home modifications and repairs.

Keep in mind from 2015-2019, we averaged 8 homes a year. With over 300 volunteers and some contracted professional services, in 2024, we provided home modification and repair services for 130 homes. At 44 of these homes, we installed wheelchair ramps.

Thanks to our many volunteers, donors, and sponsors. It was an amazing year and with your continued support, we look forward to an even more productive 2025.

Consider a donation or volunteering to help out with a project. Every person and every $1 makes a difference.

A Productive Couple of Weeks

November 2nd, 2024

We’ve had a really productive couple of weeks. Be sure to check out the before and after pictures. We helped a couple of Veterans with a wheelchair ramp and a back porch. We also helped rebuild a couple sets of stairs and a small deck. One of Veteran projects, we expected to just be able to replace the decking, but when we got into it, we found out we had to replace everything from the ground up to the porch rafters. Including jacking up part of the porch overhang to make things level.

Project 1:

We had to completely tear out and rebuild the steps, posts, and porch joists decking railing and balusters. We had to also jack up the right side of the overhang to get the roof level before we set the posts in place.

Project 2:

The homeowner’s gutter had eroded the ground beneath the steps, and they were resting on the landscaping blocks…very dangerous.
We tore out and completely rebuilt the steps and railing.

Replacement Wheelchair Ramp

November 8th, 2024

We got a late start on this wheelchair ramp due to amount of rain that we had this week, but we finally got it done today. The old ramp was dangerous and way too steep for the homeowner to use it. Thanks to the Agency for Community Transit for your continued support.

These projects are made possible by the support of our community.

The old wheelchair ramp was being held together by hope and prayer. When we were almost finished, the homeowner had to go to the doctor for some tests and the ramp worked out great for them.

Wheelchair Ramp

November 12th, 2024

The homeowner was trying to get up [a] makeshift ramp. [The ramp we made] turned out awesome.

Thanks so much to Larry from Olin Winchester for coming out and helping out with this wheelchair ramp. Your help made this project go so smoothly. Thanks also to the Agency for Community Transit for your continued support.

Last Ramps of the Year!

November 25th, 2024

We’ve made the most of the above-freezing temperatures in the past week or so to get a couple more wheelchair ramps completed. Each one specifically designed and built for the homeowner’s needs. The second ramp had to be designed/built at an angle to make the best use of the space in the yard. I immediately remembered why we rarely build angled ramps. These angles are tough.

Thanks to the Agency for Community Transit for your continued support.
